Toronto to Istanbul in Late October: Direct vs 1-Stop Fares

Thinking about a trip from Toronto to Istanbul this fall? Here is what FJ Travels and Tours quoted for a round-trip journey of about three weeks, leaving in late October and returning in mid-November 2026. The choice comes down to a familiar trade-off: a faster direct flight or a lower fare with a connection.

The route

• Toronto (YYZ) to Istanbul (IST) and back
• Travel period: late October to mid-November 2026
• Option 1: Air Transat, direct flight
• Option 2: American Airlines, 1 stop

What it costs

Fares are per person, round trip:

| Option | Fare | |---|---| | Air Transat direct | $1,299 CAD | | American Airlines, 1 stop | $1,049 CAD |

The one-stop option was $250 CAD cheaper per person. For a couple, that adds up to $500 CAD. Whether it is worth the extra travel time depends on your budget and how much you value a non-stop journey.

Baggage

On the Air Transat direct fare, FJ confirmed 1 checked bag of up to 23 kg per person. Baggage rules can differ by airline and fare type, so ask us to confirm the allowance, including carry-on, before you book, especially if you are choosing the one-stop option.

Good to know

• Direct or connecting? A direct flight means no layover, no second boarding and less risk of a missed connection. A one-stop itinerary can save money but makes for a longer day.
• Flexible dates help. Fares can change from one departure date to the next. If you can shift your dates by a few days, ask us to check nearby options.
• Book early. Seats at the lowest fares tend to sell out first, especially for popular travel periods.
• Check your documents. Confirm passport validity and entry requirements for Türkiye well before departure.
