Toronto to Hyderabad with a Jeddah Stopover on Saudia: December Fares

Planning to visit family in Hyderabad over the December holidays and add an Umrah stopover in Jeddah on the way? Saudia lets you combine both in one trip. Here is what FJ quoted for this routing, and what to know before you book.

The route

Two options were quoted on Saudia for travel from about December 18 to January 7:

• Toronto – Hyderabad – Jeddah – Hyderabad: a multi-stop itinerary that includes time in Jeddah for Umrah.
• Toronto – Hyderabad – Toronto: a straightforward return flight with no stopover.

The Jeddah stopover is a good fit if you want to spend a few days in Makkah and Madinah before or after your time in India.

Visas

• Saudi Arabia: FJ can arrange the Saudi visa for your Umrah stopover.
• India and Pakistan: FJ does not process visas for these countries. Travellers need to arrange them separately, so allow time for this before departure.

If you also want to add a week in Karachi or Lahore, remember that this means a separate visa application and a more complex ticket.

Good to know

• Peak season: Late December to early January is one of the busiest and most expensive times to fly to South Asia. When FJ checked a slightly earlier departure (December 16) and an earlier return (January 5), the fare was still considered high.
• Flexibility helps: Moving your dates by even a day or two can change the price, so tell your agent how flexible you are.
• Book early: Holiday seats sell out first. Booking months ahead gives you the best chance at a reasonable fare.
• Plan your Umrah days: Two to three days in Saudi Arabia is a common stopover length. Think about hotels and transfers early.
