Flights from Ottawa and Montreal to Damascus: Winter 2026 Fare Comparison

Planning a long winter stay in Damascus? Travelling from mid-November to mid-January is popular, and the airline you choose can change your fare by hundreds of dollars. Here is a comparison of recent fares from Ottawa and Montreal, with the trade-offs for each.

The routes and fares

All fares below are return, for one adult, with travel from mid-November to mid-January.

| Departing | Airline | Fare (per person) | |---|---|---| | Montreal | Turkish Airlines | $1,495 CAD | | Montreal | Emirates | $1,950 CAD | | Ottawa | Qatar Airways | $2,195 CAD |

The Qatar Airways fare was quoted for 17 November to 15 January. The Turkish Airlines fare was quoted for 15 November to 15 January.

Which one suits you?

• Turkish Airlines from Montreal is the lowest fare, at $1,495 CAD. The connection is in Istanbul. The airline does not provide a hotel during the layover, so check the connection time before you book if you prefer a shorter journey.
• Emirates from Montreal costs $455 CAD more, but the layover in Dubai is only about 3 hours. This suits travellers who want a quicker connection.
• Qatar Airways from Ottawa is the option if you would rather depart from Ottawa. It costs $2,195 CAD for the dates above.

Baggage

The Turkish Airlines fare allows 2 checked bags of 23 kg each, plus 7 kg of hand baggage. Baggage rules differ by airline and fare, so confirm your allowance before booking, especially for a long stay.

Good to know

• Fares are time-sensitive. These were valid only on the day they were quoted, so seats and prices can change quickly.
• Flexible dates help. Moving your departure by a few days can change the fare, so tell your agent if you have flexibility.
• To book, your agent needs the traveller's name exactly as it appears on the passport, or a copy of the passport.
• Compare layovers, not only prices. A cheaper fare with a long connection may not be the best value for every traveller.
