Cranbrook to Kathmandu on Air Canada: Fare and Baggage Guide

Flying from a smaller Canadian city like Cranbrook, BC to Kathmandu takes some planning. FJ Travels and Tours recently quoted this trip for a February departure with a return in early April. Here is what the fare looked like and what to know before you book.

The route

• Airline: Air Canada
• Routing: Cranbrook to Vancouver to Bangkok to Kathmandu (2 stops)
• Baggage transfer: automatic, so your checked bag is tagged through to Kathmandu and you do not collect it and re-check it at the connections
• Travel window: early February out, early April back

This routing does not connect through the United States, which helps if you do not hold a US visa.

What it costs

• Air Canada, 2-stop fare: $2,180 CAD per person, including taxes

Fares on this kind of itinerary can be held only for a short time, and the seats may be released automatically if payment is not made. If you see a fare you like, be ready to confirm quickly.

Baggage

• Checked bag: 1 piece, 23 kg, included
• Carry-on: 7 kg
• Extra checked bag: $120 CAD each, payable at boarding time

If you are staying for two months, as in this itinerary, you may want to plan for the extra bag.

How to book

1. Send FJ your travel dates and destination.
2. Review the flight details FJ sends you.
3. Provide each traveller's name exactly as it appears on the passport, along with a passport photo.
4. Pay by credit card or Interac e-transfer.

Good to know

• Cranbrook to Kathmandu is a long journey with two connections. Check the layover times in your flight details before you confirm.
• Early February to early April is a flexible window, and a different departure date can change the fare.
• Bangkok is one of the stops, so check whether you need any entry documents for your transit.
