Calgary to Jeddah on Saudia: Sample Fares With a Madinah to Karachi Leg

Planning to visit Saudi Arabia and then continue to Pakistan? Many travellers from Western Canada want to see Jeddah and Madinah and then carry on to Karachi, all on one ticket. Here is a sample of what FJ Travels and Tours quoted for this kind of trip from Calgary.

The route

The itinerary quoted starts in Calgary and flies to Jeddah on Saudia (Saudi Arabian Airlines). A second version adds a separate flight from Madinah to Karachi, so you do not have to return to Jeddah before continuing to Pakistan.

What it costs

• Calgary to Jeddah on Saudia: $1,870 CAD per person.
• Calgary to Jeddah, plus a Madinah to Karachi flight: $2,390 CAD each person.

The second fare is higher because it includes the extra leg out of Madinah. FJ's agent noted that this option was the more expensive of the two. Prices include taxes.

What is included

• Baggage allowance of 2 pieces per person on the quoted fares.
• Flight details and schedule, which FJ sends in writing so you can review the connections and timings before deciding.

Good to know

• Open-jaw routing can save time. Flying into Jeddah and out of Madinah means you do not need to backtrack between the two holy cities. Check how you plan to travel between them, since that is a separate decision from the flight.
• Fares are held only briefly. The quote above was good for about one day. If you are still confirming dates or checking with family, ask your agent how long the fare is held.
• Fixed dates help. Prices change with the travel month, seat availability and how many legs are on the ticket. Once your dates are set, an agent can re-check the fare and offer the closest option.
• Compare one-way and multi-city. For trips with a stop in Saudi Arabia and then Pakistan, it is worth pricing both a multi-city ticket and separate one-way tickets.
• Review the schedule carefully. Check connection times and whether any leg involves a stop in Toronto or another hub.
